Sakari Farms, who incurred damages and crop losses resulting from a recent wind and hail storm.
Sakari Farms is located in Tumalo, the heart of Central Oregon. The farm works in collaboration with the Central Oregon Seed Exchange as a unique Deschutes County based cold climate seed bank, offering free seed and agricultural education to the public. The Farm hosts Sakari Botanicals- A Value Added Products, Culinary and Tribal Healing Business. Sakari Farm houses a unique NW Tribal Seed Bank dedicated to our regional and national Tribal Members only. They are unique in that they grow Native American Tribal Foods, offer on-farm Technical Assistance through their on-farm classes, and implement research based tribal seed production, contract and wholesale growing. Their current growing creations consist of specialty tribal peppers, tomatoes, herbs and one of a kind native flowers. Sakari farm practices organic and biodynamic growing practices and holds the Intertribal Agricultural Council’s “Made by Native American” patent certification.
Now that The Workhouse is on secure footing, (for now!) we are helping raise funds for other Central Oregon Arts related small businesses who are still struggling under the impacts of Covid 19. We love our art community and want to help ensure that it remains strong and vital throughout this season and beyond. Each week from Monday- Sunday we'll be raising funds for local artists and arts organizations. 100% of the funds we raise through donations will be given directly to those individuals and business owners to use in anyway they need, whether that be maintaining their own operating costs or paying their bills at home. To give those donations a bigger impact, will be donating 10% of our Saturday sales (both online and in the shop- once we re-open) to those folks each week as well. If you know of anyone who could use the support, you can nominate them via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
